We are fast approaching the end of the season, so some of us will be looking at destination fishing. If you thinking of fishing in a warmer climate, then Rio offer a good range of saltwater lines.
Rio Saltwater Fly Lines
Rio make saltwater fly lines for cold water, warm water and tropical conditions so whether you are fishing for saltwater bass and mullet or after bonefish, tarpon or permit, there is a Rio fly line for you.
Bonefish Saltwater Line
RIO’s new bonefish line features a unique taper design that allows a rod to load at close range, a medium-length front taper for great turnover and a long back taper to smooth out the casting loop and keep the line stable on long shots. A hard, saltwater coating over a medium stiff core results in a fly line that will not wilt in most tropical conditions, while RIO’s XS Technology keeps the line slick for fast,
The line also features an AgentX undercoat that produces a line that floats higher than competitors’ lines, is easier to pick up off the water, and unlike competing products the running line will not sink and tangle while wading. The head is incredibly easy to see in all light conditions, while the contrasting colour of the running line makes it easy to find the line’s perfect loading point. Includes a welded loop at each end for easy rigging.
Tropical I/I Saltwater Line
The Saltwater I/I line is a full intermediate (1.5 ips 3.8 cm/s) line with a aqua tint and a 9.5 ft clear tip.
It is a great line for laid-up fish that are a little deeper in the water column or for keeping in touch with the fly in choppy water.
Based on the Clouser taper and built with RIO’s XS Technology for slickness, it is the perfect full intermediate line for fishing in warmer climes.
Welded loops on both ends.
Rio Tarpon Line – Powerflex Core
Tarpon. This line has a long back taper for smooth, controlled casts and is slightly heavier than the AFTMA standard to load rods for quick accurate casts. There are two colour options in the floating line; a sea grass-green colour, which is the regular floating line, and a camo tip version with 20 ft of dark camo at the front end to avoid spooking fish in tricky conditions. In addition a floating line with a 10ft clear intermediate tip is available for coping with wind or to get the fly a little deeper.
Both lines feature a Tropical Agent X coating made with RIO’s XS Technology combined with a medium stiff core that will not wilt in the heat, and includes welded loops on both ends for easy rigging.
Rio Tropical Outbound
The ideal tropical line for wading the surf that features a short heavy head for throwing huge flies. Perfect for Baja and the Amazon and for such species as Peacock Bass, Dorado, Trevally and Rooster fish. The line is built with a hard saltwater coating that ensures the line will not wilt in tropical heat.
Welded loop on both ends for easy rigging.
Available as a full floating line or a floating running line with an intermediate sinking head.
Last but not least there is a cold water line for bass and mullet fishing.
